Step into Dance

I love Step into Dance

I really could not believe my luck, that straight after graduating I got employed by The Royal Academy of Dance. Their outreach programme, Step into Dance, funded by themselves and the Jack Petchey foundation, provide classes in London and Essex Secondary schools and colleges.

This was great for me as I got to teach in both mainstream and SEN schools/colleges. I loved the range of people I got to work with and choreograph on. New movements were everywhere!!

I learnt so much from Step into Dance; they training they gave me was invaluable, but also just learning how much to value training was pretty awesome too. I am pretty determined to be completely on my game for as much training as possible, and they definitely had a part to play in this. I got training from some of the best dancers around, including one of Soul Mavericks (one of the UK’s leading B-Boy crews), SEN dance specialist Gemma Coldicott and many many more….

Meeting all the other wonderful dance teachers from there has been great for connections.

But apart from that Step gave me the opportunity to perform my choreography on Sadlers Wells main stage (still my bloody proudest moment yet!). My choreography got through the audition rounds/selection process and was one of 20 out of probably over 100 to perform, and of course even just being on Sadlers Wells stage was amazing (its is arguably the best dance stage in Europe) let alone having my choreography shown on it, to its 1,200 sold out audience!!
