Horsecross ARTS deliver a Perth Youth Dance Company, which starts with classes for Primary 1-3, Primary 4-7 and on to secondary which is the Perth Youth Dance Company themselves. This class is led by Lucy Wilson.
And I am leading the Primary 1-3 and 4-7 classes. They are street dance classes, so I am yet again using my training through the Royal Academy of Dance (which has proved so very very useful) and am thoroughly enjoying teaching the two young street crews.
I am enjoying getting involved with another arts company as well. Horsecross Arts have been going for 50 years, and have been making the arts accessible and available throughout Perth and Kinross, however are based at Perth Concert Hall.
I am really looking forward to the end of year show at the Concert Hall itself, where I shall be choreographing pieces on the children to be performed. Last term I covered a few classes for their Inclusive Dance Project engaging with adults with physical and learning disabilities. I was delighted to get a good turn out to the classes and thoroughly enjoyed them. The group of adults that attended were so fun and engaged and we really had a great time.
The children have so much energy and enthusiasm and are really eager to learn.
I have been leading the classes since the term started, and although having enjoyed my October break taking part in new and exciting projects, I am very much so looking forward to getting back to teaching with them tomorrow!
