Shetland News

I come from Shetland, in my opinion the most glorious land on the planet (not that I’m bias of course!).

The Shetland Islands are made up of 100 islands, 15 of which are inhabited. I come from the main town, with my dad coming from the second most northernly isle. In Shetland, you are never more than three miles from the sea, so as you can imagine the views are incredible.

I feel so honoured that Shetland have heard about my help in the choreographing of David Gilmour’s music video (through the beauty of Facebook) and decided to run the story, both on BBC Shetland radio station and as an article in Shetland News.

It was lovely to be in touch with folk from home. I didn’t tell my parents that I was going to be on the radio, so it was great to be able to surprise them as they were eating their Friday night dinner and there was my voice over the radio! All the way from Cambodia.

I would love to come back to Shetland at some point so it is really great that people there know a tiny wee bit of what I’ve been up to!

Looking at the pictures (all taken by Andrew Hutton) I’m sure you too can understand why I love home so much. With the community spirit, the lovely people and the beauty, it really is a place that’s hard to beat.

I feel grateful for all the support from Shetland, and it really has made me want to come home to enjoy the beauty and it’s people!
